The ICT market in Italy is in good health, but suffers from excessive fragmentation. The data released in June by Anitec-Assinform show positive signs: in 2017 growth was 2.3% , with a more than optimistic trend for the next few years too, with a forecast of 2.6% for 2018 and above 3% for the following year. After years with a minus sign, the darkest ones of the crisis which made itself felt in particular between 2008 and 2014, the trend is certainly encouraging. It is clear, however, that more can be done, considering on the one hand the acceleration that digital innovation as a whole has had in a few years, and on the other the digital gap that the country has accumulated in the past.
If it is true that innovation is a train for economic recovery that we Germany Phone Number cannot miss, a more sustained step for the ICT market would therefore be desirable, as Marco Gay, president of Anitec-Assinform, underlined when presenting the report: «The signs are good, but we need to give them continuity, looking to the future and the delays to be made up, with timely planning, encouraging the most innovative drives towards the full adoption of enabling digital solutions". ICT market in Italy, a dispersed world There are many points to address to accelerate this growth dynamic of the ICT market in Italy, but there is a structural issue of the supply market that is particularly felt: the fragmented nature of the IT companies which number 87 thousand (in Lombardy accounts for 25% of the total).
A few large companies, which together with a myriad of small companies find themselves competing in a red ocean, creating an inevitable - and harmful - price war . It is always Anitec-Assinform that puts its finger on the wound, speaking of a "chronic underestimation of the prices of services whose purchase is still mainly based on lowest-cost tenders " . Growth opportunities As we said at the beginning, there are opportunities for growth. The moment is particularly favorable, because companies are riding the wave of digital transformation and increasingly need qualified and competent partners. Tech companies that want to try to grow more than that average 2% per year of the market will have to understand that it is necessary to stand out , putting the renewal of the offer and organizational models at the center of the strategy.
